In the coming weeks I will be in the market for new front brake pads for my car. Just wanted to see if any of the BMW owners in the group have any suggestions for what kind to get.
I should note that the car has drilled and slotted rotors, but has a normal brake kit. I assume the previous owner put the rotors on and they do not need replacing, so they will remain on the car.

EBC, or HawkPerformance. I’ve never had a bad experience with either one. (no, I don’t own a BMW car, but I do own a BMW motorcycle, and I use exclusively EBC pads..)

Does it see any track time, and do you care about dust/noise?

Project Mu club racers for track, everything else gets oem for me.

Akebono ProACT and Wagner Thermoquiet are good choices. If you want something cheap, there’s always Dash4 :p

Stoptech has a good performance street pad and very reasonable prices.

Performance Friction or bust

I generally buy my brake parts from R1 Concepts at this point, for any car. Generally the EBC stuff.

Second, but I don’t have a Bavarian ox cart.

It won’t be tracked because we don’t have any (Mississippi hates fun apparently). I don’t want a whole lot of noise and it would be nice if it didn’t accumulate so much dust like the oem pads do.

I thought about Wagner’s since I am not a big fan of the loud squeal.

A lot of people have suggested EBC. I’ve never had that brand before so definitely will look into it.

How are they as far as noise and brake dust?

Car isn’t tracked (we have none in my state to go to) so would strictly be for street use. The OEM pads just generate a ton of dust and have a lot of squeal to me though.

I checked into those a little. Not too terrible on price, but I don’t know much about the brand I will admit.

Way better than stock BMW

Their Carbon Metallic is my go-to for street pads.
Having used Hawk, EBC, Pagid, Porterfield, and a few more, it’s hard to beat PFC (performance friction)

Not a BMW owner, but...
Hawk/Porterfield and EBCs are both solid, proven choices.
I had great luck with Axxis Metal Masters/Ultimates back when I couldn’t afford better. But if you have the means, brake pads aren’t something to skimp on.

Akebono Euro.

Oh, in that case avoid project mu like the plague!

Pagid reds have been the best for me. Good bite, way lower dust than OEM.

Lol! Duly noted.

Haven’t heard of those. I’ll check them out along with the others. Thanks!

I’ve heard Akebono is pretty good. I’ll give them a look for sure.

Stoptech Sports are quite good. Ijust installed those, along with Powerstop Drilled/Slotted rotors on my E92. Altogether, everything was about $400 shipped from Rocauto.
